I am sharing my experience so other pet owners can make informed decisions. In 2021, I brought my dog to Dr. Pomeroy who we’d been going to for many years. My dog presented with symptoms that were misdiagnosed as giardia. Shortly after, she passed away from unaddressed congestive heart failure. Given the critical difference in treatment for these conditions, the failure to identify heart failure led to a very tragic outcome. Her symptoms, learned from a different vet later, should have been easy to diagnose. For this reason I cannot recommend this clinic, especially for complex or urgent symptoms.I also learned that this wasn’t the first time Poneroy caused the death of a dog, as there is a similar complaint with the board of vet med that is public record.
Until Pomeroy’s I have never had a good vet and it has been a major issue throughout the years. I truly cannot say enough good things about these guys. Someone recommended them years ago when I was complaining about the cost of a dental cleaning at my previous vet. I took my sweet baby here instead and they did the cleaning at a very reasonable cost and even caught a heart murmur all the other vets missed - and put her on meds that absolutely allowed her to live longer than she otherwise would have. I established care at Pomeroy’s for the next three dogs I got after she passed. Both Dr. Pomeroy and Dr. Choi are so wonderful and you are in great hands with either one of them. They’ve eased my fears when I emailed them photos of the weird marks/bites I found on my dog’s stomach, Dr. Pomeroy called me after hours several times to discuss my next senior special needs rescue baby’s condition and end of life care, and recently when I had an accident with my dog and the emergency vet was trying to charge me $500 for one initial x-ray and god knows how much for each additional angle, Dr. Choi fit us into her schedule for a follow up even though they were all booked up. They do things old school instead of defaulting to using all the high tech stuff immediately and this keeps the cost down. The care that rescue vet said my dog needed (x-rays, blood tests, meds, etc.) would have cost over $1000 —in addition to the $300 fee just to be seen. I’m so grateful to that emergency vet for seeing my dog that weekend. But when Dr. Choi saw my dog a couple days later she just shaved her leg so she could see the affected area and gave us some ointment to use for the next few days. The cost was so reasonable I don’t even remember what it was! You can trust these folks to not shake you down when you are in a vulnerable position because your pets need care and you are just trying to do what’s best. From the receptionist and vet techs to the vets themselves, everyone in this practice has a great heart and will take excellent care of your animals. It’s like the city version of All Creatures Great And Small! I sing their praises to friends and strangers.
Been taking my many pets here for over a decade and find the vets smart and friendly.
